Tell us a bit more about your free from journey
Hi, my name is Cate and I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 15 years ago, when I was 9 years old. I suddenly was always tired (used to be a very hyper child), no energy, stomach and extremely distressing bowel issues. I went to the GP and they firstly trialled me on a dairy-free diet and made me keep a food diary. Nothing changed so they decided to test me on a gluten-free diet and suddenly everything changed. I was back to my usual self. I wasn’t having stomach issues. I had energy again so they did the blood test and the endoscopy and it came back positive for coeliac. We now have 10 coeliacs in my extended family! Every year someone new gets diagnosed.
Why have you joined the Allergy & Free From Show Ambassador Programme?
I have been a huge allergy show fan ever since 2015 and have been going every year since then. I want to be an ambassador because I am a huge fan of the show myself and what to show others how great it is too!
What are you most looking forward to about the event in may?
I’m really excited to see some of my friends I have made in the gluten free world as well as discovering new products and sampling the latest on the market!
