Ellen’s Top Gluten-Free Supermarket Recommendations

Finding great gluten-free products can sometimes feel like a challenge, especially when you’re trying to find those reliable favourites you can come back to again and again.

We caught up with Ellen from the Raccoon Media Group team, who follows a gluten-free diet for medical reasons, to find out what’s always in her shopping basket, from everyday essentials and easy dinners to sweet treats and a gluten-free beer.

First things first, where do you usually do your food shop?

Ellen: Usually Waitrose or M&S. I find they both have a really good selection of gluten-free products, so I know I’ll normally be able to pick up the things I need as well as find something new to try.

What’s your go-to gluten-free bread?

Ellen: It has to be the Waitrose Free From Sliced Tiger Cob. Finding a really good gluten-free loaf isn’t always easy, but this one never disappoints. It’s great toasted and works really well for sandwiches too.

And what about pasta?

Ellen: Tesco Finest Free From Rigatoni is my favourite. It’s my go-to whenever I’m having pasta and works with pretty much anything, whether it’s a simple sauce or a pasta bake.

Pizza night...what are you choosing?

Ellen: Either Schär or Ristorante Gluten Free. Both are really handy to have around when you want an easy pizza night without feeling like you’re missing out.

What’s your favourite option when you’re grabbing food on the go?

Ellen: Gluten-Free Subway. It’s nice having a convenient option when I’m out and about and just want to grab something quickly for lunch.

Is there anything that always has a place in your freezer?

Ellen: Definitely the M&S Chicken Nuggets. They’re such an easy option for busy evenings or when you just want something comforting without having to think too much about dinner.

We need to know your favourite sweet treat…

Ellen: Crimble’s Chocolate Macaroons! They’re so good, especially with a cup of tea or coffee.

What does breakfast look like?

Ellen: I really like PureOaty Granola. It’s quick, filling and has loads of flavour, so it’s an easy breakfast to keep stocked.

If you had to choose one favourite gluten-free brand, who would it be?

Ellen: BFree. I love that there’s such a good range of everyday products. The wraps, pittas and rolls are all really useful to have depending on what I’m making.

And finally, what’s your gluten-free beer of choice?

Ellen: Jubel. It’s definitely my go-to when I fancy a beer!

Thanks, Ellen!

A huge thank you to Ellen for giving us a peek inside her gluten-free shopping basket.
