Tara Taylor started Good Grain Bakery, an award winning organic gluten free bakery that is redefining the standards of the Free From category.
She spent the last decade working on gluten free products, in particular sourdough bread and bagels. She is passionate about gluten free sourdough baking and an advocate for real food.
Her mission is to bring better food for all back into the market, food made without long lists of additives, preservatives or hard to pronounce fillers.
Long before the shift towards “clean label” and “non ultra process”, Tara was already fighting for it. Some said she was too far ahead of the market, but now the time is right to show that free from can mean flavour, quality and integrity.
Her focus is gluten free innovation that tastes as good as it is good for you because she believes that the free from aisle should never feel like a compromise. It should be a destination for exciting, wholesome everyday food that everyone can enjoy.
Good Grain Bakery was created in response to Tara’s own dietary requirements. What began as a personal challenge has grown into one of the UK’s organic and Free From bakery brands, trusted by retailers including Ocado, Planet Organic, Whole Foods, Abel and Cole and Harrods.
Her recipes focus on natural fermentation and real ingredients, avoiding gums, emulsifiers and preservatives.
Her latest innovative bagel creations were developed with the support of her co manufacturing partners at The Celtic Bakers, the leading London craft bakery, with organic at the forefront of their range and a natural fit with Good Grain Bakery.
She has taught gluten free sourdough baking workshops with her long term supplier at Shipton Mill, an opportunity she describes as a privilege. Tara now shares her expertise through demonstrations and classes that guide people through the art of baking real bread, pizza and crackers that are both nourishing and inclusive. Tara continues to champion a future where Free From food is celebrated rather than compromised, and where everyone, regardless of dietary needs, can enjoy exceptional baking.
