‘Queen of Gluten Free’ Becky Excell is a 6x Sunday Times best-selling author and a trusted authority on all things gluten-free, with a following of over 1 million on her social media channels.
Becky is an advocate for positive change for the gluten-free and free from community through her best-selling books, regular national TV appearances and as an ambassador for Coeliac UK. She’s passionate about shining a light on the cost of living for those who are gluten free and her seventh book, ‘Budget Gluten Free,’ (released 13th Feb 2025) is the next step in an exciting journey to ensure that gluten-free food is accessible to all those who need it.
Becky’s first-hand knowledge of being on a gluten-free diet for over 15 years has enabled her to share much-needed support to those directed to follow a life-long gluten-free diet, often with little to no help or guidance. In her capacity of ambassador for Coeliac UK, Becky hosts their podcast and works closely alongside them to persistently raise awareness about the struggles that go along with a gluten-free diet, both medically, practically and socially. Her next aim is to help to improve gluten-free offerings and understanding in schools – an area often highlighted as needing much improvement by her followers – alongside the likes of hospitals, events, restaurants and public transport.
Outside of food, Becky also has a strong interest in talking about mental health having suffered from an Eating Disorder in her early twenties; in 2024 she contributed a chapter to the book ‘Eating Disorders Don’t Discriminate’, documenting how an eating disorder covertly manifested itself into her life. In addition to this, having discovered that she has the BRCA2 gene mutation, she’s incredibly passionate about sharing the life changing implications this diagnosis has had had on her, which included a double mastectomy in May 2022, age 31.
Not only have her cookbooks received Nigella Lawson’s seal of approval, Becky was awarded Observer Food Monthly’s Best Food Personality award in 2022, the bCreator Award’s Food Creator of the Year 2022 and BBC Food Creator of the Year 2023. She has appeared on TV shows such as This Morning, showing the nation how easy it is to make delicious gluten-free food, as well as cooking and baking at events including the Good Food Show, The Big Feastival, Pub in the Park and Carfest.
Her six Sunday Times best-selling cookbooks, How to Make Anything Gluten Free, How to Bake Anything Gluten Free, How to Plan Anything Gluten Free, Quick and Easy Gluten Free, Gluten Free Christmas and Gluten Free Air Fryer were published by Quadrille. She lives in Essex, UK.
